14 & Under Team Vision

PRACTICE TO COMPETE. After the first level of function specialization at U13, athletes at U14 (beginner level III) will be designated to one major and one secondary position. During practices they will still work on all the fundamentals, but they will start to get a major amount of reps at the fundamentals that would be more recurrent for their primary and secondary positions. It is expected that the U14 plays 5:1 or 6:2 systems the majority of the season. Athletes will be attending our strength & conditioning program, a specific conditioning (extra team practice) that will be focusing on the general physical abilities that are necessary for the volleyball athlete (once athletes will already have developed general motor coordination and general strength at younger ages): lower body power, upper body speed, midline strength, joint protection, jump coordination, jump power, jump resistance and specific game resistance. No defensive specialists will be specified at U14. One libero may or may not be designated, at the discretion of the coaching staff.
