U12: Fall in Love with the Sport of Volleyball.
At this stage, players develop all-around skills, learn teamwork, discipline, and the fundamentals of the game. No specialization in positions.
U13: Learn to Practice.
Players continue to build a strong generalist foundation, with some introduction to positional specialization. Conditioning focuses on coordination and injury prevention.
U14: Practice to Compete.
Players are designated primary and secondary positions, while still refining all fundamentals. Strength & conditioning becomes a regular part of training.
U15: Compete to Perform.
Athletes refine their primary position and increase game speed and tactical knowledge. Recruiting education begins.
U16: Play to Win.
Players enhance decision-making, deception, and tactical execution. Recruiting efforts intensify, and conditioning shifts toward power and joint protection.
U17: Play to Win.
Specialization deepens, with players developing unique styles within their positions. Advanced game strategies take priority. Recruiting efforts continue.
U18: Play to Win.
Athletes are highly specialized and focus on refining their tactical and physical abilities. Strength & conditioning is recommended but not mandatory. The season schedule is adjusted to accommodate commitments.
Progression Summary:
As players progress through Loudoun Elite, they transition from broad skill development (U12-U14) to positional refinement (U15-U18). Strength & conditioning evolves from general movement coordination to power and injury prevention. Tactical knowledge shifts from basic execution to advanced strategies and deception. Recruiting support begins at U15 and intensifies through U18. Throughout all levels, players develop discipline, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
